Invest in Östergötland

Östergötland at Europe’s largest expatriation fair

A key prerequisite for growth and regional development is the ability of businesses and public organizations in Östergötland to attract the talent and expertise they need. That is why Region Östergötland participated in the Emigration Expo, showcasing career opportunities and the high quality of life available in the region.

– International talent will become increasingly important in the years ahead. Many visitors were curious about the opportunities available and what life is like in our region, says Marianne Lind, Investment and Establishment Strategist at Region Östergötland.

This year, Region Östergötland participated in a joint exhibition stand together with East Sweden, and interest in Östergötland was considerable. Many visitors wanted to learn more about career opportunities and the region’s development.

– It was valuable to be able to present the full breadth of opportunities, from the private sector to public organizations, says Marianne Lind.

A view shared by Jessica Wikström, International Recruitment Officer at Region Östergötland:

– Participating in the Emigration Expo provides us with a valuable opportunity to meet individuals interested in working within Swedish healthcare. During the fair, we met many candidates with relevant experience and strong motivation. International talent is an important part of our long-term workforce planning, and these types of encounters help strengthen the region’s ability to meet future staffing needs.

At the fair, Region Östergötland engaged with visitors from a wide range of professional backgrounds. Interest at the stand came from engineers, IT specialists and software developers, as well as welders and truck drivers.

– We received many questions from people outside the healthcare sector. This demonstrates a need to highlight opportunities within the broader business community even more at events like this. Next year, we hope to see companies from the private sector represented at the fair as well, says Marianne Lind.
