Östergötland showcases innovation and industry to German delegation

On 24 September, Region Östergötland welcomed a German business delegation to Linköping as part of a Swedish-German programme focused on lightweight engineering, advanced materials, and industrial innovation. The delegation included companies active in composite materials, additive manufacturing, engineering services, and advanced production technologies.

A strong industrial and innovation ecosystem

During the visit, Region Östergötland presented the region's strengths in research, innovation, advanced manufacturing, and international cooperation. Participants gained an overview of Östergötland's strategic location, strong industrial base, and collaborative innovation ecosystem built around industry, academia, and the public sector.

The presentation highlighted key regional assets such as Linköping University, Linköping Science Park, Norrköping Science Park, LEAD Business Incubator, and national initiatives including WASP and AI Sweden. Together, these actors create strong conditions for research, talent development, innovation, and industrial growth.

Supporting business development and investment

Region Östergötland also described its role in regional development, including innovation support, business development, skills supply, and investment promotion. The delegation received information on how the region supports companies through market intelligence, business networks, partnership facilitation, and investment advisory services.

Strengthening Swedish-German collaboration

The visit was part of a broader programme aimed at strengthening Swedish-German collaboration within advanced materials and lightweight technologies. Following the regional presentation, the delegation continued its programme with visits to Linköping University, Compraser Labs, and several organisations within Östergötland's innovation ecosystem.

Through international exchanges such as this, Region Östergötland aims to create new opportunities for research collaboration, business development, and future investments between Sweden and Germany.
